Good questions

Questions peopleactually ask

Where are Bolta treats made?

In Australia. The functional treats are cold-formed in Sydney rather than baked, so the actives go in whole instead of being cooked. Green lipped mussel is sourced from New Zealand, which is where it comes from.

What is the difference between the collagen chews and the functional treats?

The collagen chews are a long chew. Your dog works at one for a while, and it is collagen rather than rawhide. The functional treats are soft bites you feed every day, and each one is built around a job: Move for joints, Calm for settling, Gut for digestion, Skin & Coat for condition.

How long before I notice anything?

Four to six weeks of daily feeding before you judge it. These actives build up rather than working on the day, which is why the multi-bag bundles exist.

How many do I feed?

By weight, from one bite a day for a small dog up to five for a big one. There is a calculator on each product page that does the maths. Whatever you feed, treats should stay under about 10% of your dog's daily calories, so ease the main meal back a touch to make room.

Can my dog have more than one kind?

They are made to sit alongside each other. Introduce one at a time though, a week or so apart, so you know which one is doing what, and keep the total inside that 10%.

Are they suitable for puppies?

The functional treats are made for adult dogs 12 months and over. Puppies are still growing and their needs are different, so check with your vet first.

My dog is on medication or already takes a supplement. Is that a problem?

Ask your vet before you add anything. Doubling up on the same actives is the thing to watch, and they know what your dog is already on.

What is actually in them?

Every active is named on the pack with the amount beside it. No proprietary blends, no ingredient in there to pad out a label. The base is peanut butter, which is what makes them worth eating. If we cannot explain why something is in the product, it does not go in.

How do I store them?

Reseal the bag and keep it somewhere cool and dry, out of the sun. No fridge needed.

My dog is fussy. What if they will not eat it?

Try it broken into smaller pieces, or handed over at a moment they are already interested, rather than offered cold after dinner. Most dogs come around within a few goes.

If they still will not touch it, email us and tell us which one and what they do like. We cannot take back an opened bag, but we can usually point you at the one that suits them.

How much is shipping, and how long will it take?

$12.95 anywhere in Australia, and free on orders over $180. Orders are processed the day after you order and ship from our warehouse in Sydney, usually with Australia Post. Allow 2 to 8 business days from there, depending on how far you are from Sydney. Full detail is in our shipping policy.

What is the Dazy Dog connection?

Same team. We have been making orthopaedic dog beds in Sydney as Dazy Dog since 2019. Bolta is the rest of the day: everything except dinner.
